Educational and support groups for patients and family members

The opportunity to meet other people in similar situations is important for both patients and carers. For more information about the following groups either call 01284 766133 and ask for Orchard Day Therapy or email DayHospice@stnh.org.uk

Time 4 You

This is a special day for those suffering from the changes that an illness or treatment may bring. During the day a patient can

  • learn about relaxation Time 4 you
  • try complementary therapies
  • experience a makeup and manicure workshop
  • learn about Headstart - tips with scarves and hats when experiencing hair loss
  • learn how to manage fatigue

When and where does it happen?
On the last Thursday of every month in the Garden Room at the main Hospice Care site.


Positive Living Programme

This is a six-week programme providing an opportunity for patients and their wives, husbands, partners or close friends to meet together in small groups. They can learn how to develop skills and techniques in order to manage the illness.

When and where does it happen?
On Mondays 10.30am to 12.30pm in the Garden Room at the main Hospice Care site.


Fatigue Programme

This is a 6 week programme for up to 8 patients to provide practical advice and information on managing fatigue. This is led by our Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist.

When and where does it happen?
Thursday mornings 10.30am - 12.30pm in the Garden Room at the main Hospice Care site.


Carers Group

This group brings together people who are caring for someone with a life threatening illness. Up to 12 carers meet weekly over 8 weeks to share their experiences and access advice and information.

When and where does it happen?
On Mondays 2pm to 3.30pm in the Garden Room at the main Hospice Care site.
